How this test is scored

  • CELPIP-General reports a level from 1 to 12 for each ability. For immigration, those levels align directly with CLB (CLB 7 ≈ CELPIP 7 in that skill).
  • The test is fully computer-delivered, including the speaking section recorded at the test centre.
  • CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking only) does not satisfy Express Entry language requirements.

CRS & Express Entry

  • Because scores are already on a CLB-like scale, many applicants find it easier to read results off their score report than with IELTS band math.
  • You still need to meet the minimum in all four abilities — one skill below the threshold caps your CLB for that skill and your CRS points.
